Master Park Plan
The Round Hill Planning Commission was directed by the Town Council on March 20, 2024, to create a Master Park Plan for Niels Poulsen Park, Loudoun Street Park, and the Old Round Hill Elementry School. This plan will serve as a guiding document for the future development and enhancement of the Town’s parks and recreational facilities. As part of the Town's commitment to creating vibrant and accessible green spaces for all community members, this plan will ensure that each park meets the diverse needs of our residents and visitors.
Parks Included in the Master Park Plan:
- Loudoun Street Park: Located at 3 East Loudoun Street, this park is a central hub for community events and gatherings. It features a pavilion, playground, decorative rock wall, Veterans Memorial, and the Bruce Brownell Memorial Trail. Historically used for celebrations like the Christmas tree lighting and Hometown Festival, Loudoun Street Park remains a beloved space for residents to come together.
- Niels Poulsen Park: Situated just north of town, Niels Poulsen Park offers a blend of outdoor fitness and recreational opportunities. It includes a walking trail with exercise equipment, a large open field, playground, benches, and trees planted for future shade.
- Old Round Hill Elementary School: Now operated by Loudoun County Public Schools as a resource center, this property includes three ball fields and a tennis court, actively used by youth sports leagues and community members. The site has the potential to be transformed into a community center, serving as a vibrant hub for recreation and events.
Our Mission:
- The Master Park Plan aims to enhance each park's unique features while addressing community needs and aspirations. The mission statements for Niels Poulsen Park is as follows:
- Niels Poulsen Park aims to provide a versatile small event area, while promoting fitness and recreational activities. The park seeks to serve all ages in the community by offering a variety of outdoor amenities, enhancing community wellness and engagement.
Community Involvement:
We believe that community input is crucial in shaping the future of our parks. Throughout the planning process, we will host public meetings, workshops, and surveys to gather feedback and ideas from residents. Your voice matters, and we invite you to participate actively in the development of the Master Park Plan.
Next Steps:
The Planning Commission will review and refine the Master Park Plan with the insights gathered from the community. Together, we will create a roadmap that ensures our parks are well-maintained, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone. Stay tuned for updates and opportunities to get involved!
Update (6/20/2024): Niels Poulsen Park Public Input Survey has now closed. The Planning Commission is considering the input and formulating a plan for the park.
